If you want to own a piece of Beatles pre-history, you’ll need to have some deep pockets.

As TMZ reports, the memorabilia site Moments in Time is currently selling a business card for The Quarry Men — the group that John Lennon formed in 1956 — for $32,500.

If you know your Beatles history, you know it was The Quarry Men that John was playing with when he met Paul McCartney at a church festival in Liverpool on July 6 in 1957.  Soon afterwards, John invited Paul to join the band.  In 1958, Paul convinced John to allow his friend George Harrison to join, too.

The business card says, “The Quarry Men. Open for Engagements,” along with their manager’s number and the words “rock” and “skiffle” — the latter being a popular musical genre in the U.K. in the mid-’50s.

According to TMZ, a collector bought the card 30 years ago from a woman who was living in the suburbs of Liverpool. It was part of a bunch of membership cards and tickets she’d collected from her days club-hopping in the late ’50s and ’60s.

Meanwhile, by 1960, the band, which now included bass player Stu Sutcliffe, changed its name to The Beatals — B-E-A-T-A-L-S. A few months later, they briefly changed it again to the Silver Beetles, then to the Silver Beatles, and then, finally, to The Beatles.
